Kinematic Compatibility of a Wrist Robot With Cable Differential Actuation: Effects of Misalignment Compensation via Passive Joints

چکیده
We present the UDiffWrist (UDW), a low-impedance 2-DOF wrist exoskeleton featuring cable-differential transmission. To investigate effect of different design strategies for achieving kinematic compatibility, we developed two versions this robot: One version (UDW-C) achieves compatibility only in case perfect alignment between human and robot joints. The second (UDW-NC) connects via passive joints to achieve regardless Through characterization experiments, found that UDW-NC was more robust misalignments than UDW-C: increase maximum interaction torque associated with greater UDW-C (p = 0.003). However, displayed Coulomb friction < 0.001). Further, increased presence axes also transfer accurate UDW-NC. These results suggest small (10 deg) movements considered, advantages terms are likely overshadowed by negative effects accuracy.

Nonholonomic dynamic rolling control of reconfigurable 5R closed kinematic chain robot with passive joints
Abstract We have developed a self-reconfigurable robot which can form a 5R closed kinematic chain, only two of whose joints are actuated. This paper discusses its dynamic rolling. When it rolls, it has one DOF of its absolute orientation besides two DOFs of its shape. We show that the absolute orientation is subject to an acceleration constraint, not a velocity constraint. Therefore, the dynami...
متن کاملMRI Compatibility of Robot Actuation Techniques - A Comparative Study
This paper reports an experimental evaluation of the following three different MRI-compatible actuators: a Shinsei ultrasonic motor a Nanomotion ultrasonic motor and a pneumatic cylinder actuator. We report the results of a study comparing the effect of these actuators on the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of MRJ images under a variety of experimental conditions. Evaluation was performed with the ...
متن کاملSliding Mode Control for a Robot Manipulator with Passive Joints
In this paper, we propose a sliding mode controller for a robot manipulator with passive joints. A robot manipulator with passive joints which are not equipped with any actuators is a kind of underactuated system. Underactuated systems have some advantages compared to fully-actuated ones. For example, they weigh less and consume less energy because they have smaller number of components than fu...

متن کاملExploiting Passive Dynamics with Variable Stiffness Actuation in Robot Brachiation
This paper explores a passive control strategy with variable stiffness actuation for swing movements. We consider brachiation as an example of a highly dynamic task which requires exploitation of gravity in an efficient manner for successful task execution. First, we present our passive control strategy considering a pendulum with variable stiffness actuation. Then, we formulate the problem bas...
